Media Clusters Brussels (MCB) was at this year’s VRT’s Media Fast Forward event on 5 December in the Bozar with a booth. More than 1.500 participants of the event networked and listened to talks and panels of media professionals. And, they had the chance to check out MCB’s latest research results in the so-called Future Zone.

More than 20 different speakers presented and talked about their media companies, projects, new media technologies and media research. This included among others the CEO of VRT and the Bozar, and speakers of the European Broadcasting Union, Spotify, Vice, and Google. Pieter Ballon of SMIT-VUB was also part of a panel about Media in the Smart City.

The material at the booths highlighted the findings of the economic impact analysis of MCB: The media industry creates an important contribution to the Brussels’ economy. With 1.699,57 million EUR net added value produced in 2014, the Brussels’ media industry contributes 2,4% to Brussels’ total economy (71.744,5 million EUR). The annual average growth level of the media industry in Brussels (2,5%) is higher than the overall growth levels of Brussels’ economy and Belgium’s economy making the industry even more important by every year…
